This section has the most frequently asked questions about our programs and divisions:

QUESTION:

My son is 10 years old. Should he tryout for American?

ANSWER:

There are pluses and minuses to allowing 10 year olds to tryout and play in the American (majors) division. American is the highest level of play in little league and the most competitive division, the playing time for a ten year old will definitely be limited. Twelve year olds are usually allowed more playing time because it is their last year in Little League. One advantage is that the youngsters can get adjusted to hitting faster pitching (usually between 50-65 MPH) The first year in Majors is usually a transition year. If the youngster tryout for American(Majors), then the player must be ready to play in American if drafted. If a player played a year in National League and did extremely well (offensively and defensively)then the youngster will be better prepared for the challenge in American League. The advise to the parents is to always consult with different coaches that have seen your son or daughter play recently and ask for their opinion on wether or not they feel the boy or girl is ready to play in the American League. (It is helpfull for youngsters and parents playing in the National league to attend an American League Game, so they can see the level of play)

QUESTION:

My son did not make the division he applied and tried out for, why?

ANSWER:

There are 8 different experienced coaches rating the tryout for all applicants to all divisions. We strive to keep safety as the number one reason to keep a youngster at a certain level, but there is a limited number of players accepted in each division each year. We usually try to maintain all teams with 12 players in each division, in order to ensure adequate playing time. We also cannot exceed a certain number of teams in each division due to League Restrictions.

QUESTION:

My son played in AAA last year, he is not ready to move up to National League, so can I just have him skip the tryouts?

Every youngster registering to play in AAA, National or American must tryout, even if they want to play the same division they played the prior year. The only exception are the kids that played in American the prior year (kids remain in the same team for the duration of Little League tenure once they are drafted to an American League team)If a child skips the tryouts even if the child wants to play in the same division, the child is excluded from the draft and is ramdomly placed in a team.
